Amanda Vela is a Denver-based visionary artist. Her focus is creating art that represents her greatest joy - her relationship with God. Her art is created during meditation, and is a celebration of the unconscious, the elements of reality that are below the surface, the Holy Spirit, life-force energy, breath, presence in the moment, love, a dimension that lies beyond the appearance of things, a transcendental reality, or the spirit that pervades matter. It is about giving Glory to God, thanksgiving, appreciation for nature, His creation, His blessings, and living in the present moment.
Amanda received her BA in Studio Art from the University of Denver in 2013. She is a member of Red Wolf Gallery in Denver's premier Arts District on Santa Fe, as well as a member artist of Denver' emerging RiNo Arts District, and the Arts Student League of Denver. She was a summer of 2016 intern of the Design and Build program at the Museum of Outdoor Arts where she collaborated with 9 other artists to create works for an exhibit in the museum's gallery, the piece she designed, an 8x8ft re-invented stained glass mandala, is on permanent display at the museum. Amanda participated as a muralist at the Colorado Crush Festival in 2016 completing her first piece of public art.
Amanda specializes in creating custom fine artwork for her clients based on her skills in conveying the personal significance of the piece, and the creative delivery of concepts and thematic elements, paired with her unique aesthetic style, and passion for connecting with people.
Spirit Pervades Matter is a series of whimsical, zen-pop-culture, ornamental imaginings, hand-drawn by Denver-based visionary artist, Amanda Vela. Her creations show a surreal, meditative, and energetic world that conveys a power greater than ourselves. Prints of her art work are available matted, on canvas, framed in local-reclaimed barn wood, and on clothing. 10% of Spirit Pervades Matter's profits are donated to charity.
Amanda Vela's focus is creating art that describes her relationship with God. Her work is created during meditation and through connecting with a higher power. It describes life-force energy, the expression of the subconscious mind, and divine inspiration. It is a part of her worship of our Creator, and strives to convey the elements of reality that lie below the surface, the hope, peace, and overwhelming joy she has found in her relationship with Jesus, and the light and supernatural goodness at work on our behalf. It is about love, appreciation of nature, the Creator and His creation, a dimension beyond the appearance of things, the essence of the universe, the Author, the Holy spirit, or the spirit that pervades matter. For this reason, her body of work is regarded as such- Spirit Pervades Matter. Amanda hand illustrates and/or hand paints these images using predominantly color pencil, watercolor, archival ink, and oil paint.
Spirit Pervades Matter, Un-Limited is about more than art, more than aestheticism, more than material. It is about awareness, opening one's mind to a hidden world beyond the surface of all things that connects us all-everything and everyone- imagination, energy, life and
ethereal existence. Her work is about faith, higher consciousness, presence in the moment, surrender, hope, and spirituality.
Amanda emphasizes the use of sustainable practices in her business and in the creation of her products, as well as the support of our local economy. She uses locally, hand-made, reclaimed wood or repurposed, antique/vintage frames to display her work, uses recycled/post-consumer paper, found objects, and re-purposed material in her artwork, and her Wearable Art apparel line is printed locally and incorporates eco-friendly practices such as a made-to-order philosophy to limit the use of resources, diminish waste and overstocks, and using low-impact, water-based inks. Glory to God Almighty.
When she isn’t making art or sharing it with folks at Art Festivals and Events, Amanda enjoys rock climbing, yoga, traveling, backpacking, hiking, acro, volunteering, and spending time with friends and family.
Dedicated to giving back to the community, Amanda Vela donates a portion of Spirit Pervades Matter’s profits to charities such as Compassion International and Renew The Hope ministries.
